I have Rebuilt the Kwandrivia Roleplay World, there are new national banner and a simplified layout that is easier to use and has less subforums. I have also skipped the Civil War Idea I had and just made the new layout with that in mind.

The Laurentia Empire has now split into two nations, the Anglia Empire and the United States of Laurentia.

Class 7 Mission: Stay on the Path

One of the few remaining natural forests of the Coliginosity. Almost every tree in the Darkenbar has jet black leaves, bark, roots and wood. Almost all data points to the Dark Masque as the reasoning behind this.

Class 7 Mission: Stay on the Path

Wed Dec 20, 2017 3:51 am

♠At the edge of the Darkenwoods, there was a small structure of what seemed to be an old house or hut, one room, mainly built of stone and wood. Two of the walls were missing, as was most of the roof, so that now it was just used as a structure to keep oneself dry during rainfall, or at least try. It was here that the fearful Dark Elf stood, attempting to keep out of sight, yet needing to be escorted through the winding paths of the Darkenwoods (Insert spooky sound). He dared not travel alone, without protection...and thus he waited. Waited, shivering, for the escort that was promised by...well, that doesn't matter.♠

Teleportal transportation must have been near instantaneous, because to Arren it was like passing through the threshold of a doorway and into a different room. One second he was at the Grand Teleportal and in the very next instant, he was stepping out into a shabby hut with missing walls and a poorly kept roof.

It took him a second to get his bearings and collect the contents of his stomach, or lack there of. It was certainly a weird form of transportation that he would have to get used to using, if it was the norm. Arren much preferred to hoof it or travel by animal back.

"You must be the mark." Arren said, once he collected himself, tapping the shoulder of the Dark Elf he'd appeared behind. If the Dark Elves at the Teleportal didn't look like much to Arren, then this guy didn't really look like anything at all, comparatively so. "Hm. Figured it would be a woman to needed an escort."

((Sorry this took me so long...))

♠At the sound of Arren's voice, the dark elf would jump into the air in fright, nearly hitting his head on the moldy roof of the shelter, though not letting out a peep of noise, strangely. He turned after his startled motion, letting out a few dark curses in dark elvish under his breath, enough to make the shadows from the shelter look a little more ominous. He stood staring at Arren with eyes as dark as night, hands moving in nervous gestures over themselves, as he looked the giant up and down.♠

"Yes...and the object of this game is to escort me safely to the other side of the Darkenwoods...you won't get paid if you scare me to death...."

♠The dark elf trailed off in his squeaky voice, continuing to mutter under his breath as he started off towards the path that cut a snaking path through the Darkenwoods. Once at the edge, he would turn slightly to see if Arren was following him.♠

"That is...if you are my escort?"

♠The elf asked, his eyebrow up in curiosity, as it suddenly hit him this could not be the one he was waiting for.♠

((Likewise, crazy month that February. Crazy, crazy month.))

Arren held his composure fairly well watching the bumbling dark elf's skeleton nearly jump out of his skin. He couldn't help a quick huff and a smirk, but that was only because it was second nature to laugh at elves. Between this guy and the one from town, Arren thought he'd probably have his fill of elves after this mission was over. For now, though, this elf was the boss and Arren would follow his orders.

"Your escort I am," Arren replied, following behind the elf as they approached the edge of the Darkenwoods, "I'll even carry you if you're that frightened." He jested.

♠The elf let out a huff and a humph, before starting off into the woods, though not too quickly, making sure to keep his escort close behind him. Once he started along the path leading into the Darkenwoods, the elf would seem to become even more nervous, his eyes shifting this way and that, as though expecting an attack at any moment.♠

"So, hehe...where are you from anyways.?"

♠The elf asked, probably trying to distract himself from the surroundings of scary scenery.♠

The elf's visible nervousness wasn't doing much to keep Arren off edge, but that was probably for the best. These were new, unexplored lands to him. He was a stranger in a weird world and the last thing he needed to do was get comfortable too early. He'd seen, and been the reason behind why, men die for that very reason. Being on guard would only help him be a more effective escort and protector, if the need should arise for such a thing.

Quietly, Arren exhaled, before taking a deep breath, "I hail from the frozen tundra of the North. The far North."

♣As the two walked further along the path through the Darkenwoods, the trees on either side of the beginning of the path began to twist and turn, their branches bending slowly, but not slowly enough to not notice, if one was watching them. They began to grow a moment later, stretching and twisting and expanding, until they had woven a thick barrier across the entrance of the woods, where the path began, blocking all exit. This was done all very quietly as well, though not soundlessly. While the two continued their journey, nothing else extraordinary seemed to be happening. A few times a crow or vulture would fly above their heads, but they were high above, far from the reach of even the trees, and usually vanished as soon as they came. The trees were silent around them...almost too silent. No rustling of leaves or underbrush from the critters that lives in normal woods....but these were not normal woods....were they? If one was to look off of the path, to one side or another, they might notice that though the trees and undergrowth were not particularly thick along the path, nor really grew across it, one could not peer but a few feet deep into the wood. It was as though the darkness within were a thick fog, pushing away at all light that attempted to penetrate.♣

♠Despite the silence about them, the elf continued to be jumpy. A few times along the way, he darted to one side of the path, almost entering the treeline, because a shadow of one of the birds above crossed the path in front or beside him. He always let out a nervous laugh after, before continuing on. His eyes still moved relentlessly about, the conversation he attempted to hold not seeming to relieve any of his anxiety.♠

"Far North, Eh? Isn't that interesting. I've never seen anyone from that far away end up here....Why are you so far south anyways?"

♠The elf said, finally tearing his gaze away from the surroundings to look at Arren, curiosity creeping in where fear so clearly ruled.♠

Arren hummed pleasantly, raising an arm to flex his bicep.

“Work! Adventure! Fortune! Fame!”

He proclaimed proudly. These were the lands of his mother’s storybooks after all. Adventure aplenty had been promised to exist in the southern lands and they colored Arren’s imagination. Much to the dismay of his father and the other men of his tribe.

By now, Arren was thoroughly charmed by the dark elf’s skittishness. In a strange way it reminded him of home. He lowered his arm, just enough to cross it with the other across his chest.

“You certainly have the same wariness of your Northern brethren, I wonder if you are as… ostentatious as them as well.”

The dark elves, of the North anyway, were colorful with their words. In fact it was where he’d learned the word ‘Ostentatious’ in the first place. They were obstinate about many of their traditions, societal and cultural norms as well. A strange difference Arren noticed, since the dark elves here seemingly abandoned, what he assumed to be, their native tongue for common.

♠As Arren explained the far north and about the dark elves that lived there, the elf listened with curiosity, seeming to hang onto Arren's words more as time went on. The elf also seemed to start to relax a little as the conversation went on. When Arren finished his final sentence, the elf raised an eyebrow in confusion, his lips moving to question what Arren's meaning♠

"Osten-whaaa-AHHHHHH!!!"

♠The elf screamed in protest as something shot past his head. He leaped to the ground, his arms over his head, shaking with fright.♠

♣No sooner had the elf began speaking than out from the darkness of the forest beyond came an arrow, piercing the air and nearly the elf's head as a result. With some dumb luck or just the sheer distance from the target, the arrow missed the elf by a few inches and struck a tree with the sharp sound of splitting wood as it drove deeply into the tree. The arrow was made of wood with a crudely cut head made of some dark stone. The feathers on the end were a sickly green hue. A few moments after the arrow finished quivering where it hit the tree, somewhere off to the right of the path, where the arrow originated, there was the sound of a war-horn sounding, having the deep tone of a tuba and echoing out quite broadly, so as to signal that whomever made it was close. A moment after the sound of the horn died down, the air-splitting sound of more arrows echoed out seconds before they began firing randomly out from the trees to the right of Arren and the elf. The arrows were aimed for both of them and they came at random intervals, heights, and places from the right side of the path, so that some would almost come down the path from ahead and at them from behind. No two arrows were fired at the same time it seemed, nor were all of them that accurate, which made it possibly more dangerous if one was to move across the path toward the other rather than standing still to deflect or avoid the ones headed for one's self. For now, nothing moved out of the darkness of the forest, except for the arrows, of course. However, whomever was firing them or sounded the horn, remained unseen.♣
