I have Rebuilt the Kwandrivia Roleplay World, there are new national banner and a simplified layout that is easier to use and has less subforums. I have also skipped the Civil War Idea I had and just made the new layout with that in mind.

The Laurentia Empire has now split into two nations, the Anglia Empire and the United States of Laurentia.

Class 7 Mission: Collecting Samples for the Order

Novada is a desert and grassland state. The area was once forested, but has since been clearcut to make room for wheat, corn and other crops. The desert that was once a small and cold has since grown nearly double in size thanks to the deforestation and climate change in the area. There are 3 main regions in Novado, Stumplands is the name given to the barren land of tree stumps on the west coats of the Laurentia. It was here almost all of the Laurentia's lumber and wood came from. All that cutting and deforestation also resulted in the creation of both the Desert of Shifting Sands and the Stumplands. A seemingly average arid desert, these sands take to heart the aspect of balance and counterbalance. With arid hot days come bitter cold nights. With rain and humidity in one week comes drought and flash fires the next, with senses of danger comes senses of peace. The land itself is the embodiment of both extremes in shifting, alternating tandem. The Devoid Grasslands is a region of the Laurentia that is relatively barren and void of living things, besides grass that is. The grass however is not green, it is a light tan colour that makes it appear as sand from far off. In the wind, grass vortexes are whipped up creating quite the sight. A massive Grand Canyon also runs through this state.

Class 7 Mission: Collecting Samples for the Order

Tue Mar 24, 2015 12:37 pm

♣The sun rose high above the canal, causing the temperatures to begin to rise. Various animal life vanished into various holes and hideouts to escape the heat and from predators, many of which watched from the sky, soaring upon the light winds. A few vagabonds and merchants made their way through the canal, taking advantage of the canal's water resource. Somewhere in the canyon basin, there lay the rare desert flower that the Order was seeking. All one brave soul had to do was find it and bring it back...though that may be easier said than done....♣

A fresh step into Empire's Canyon, Huxley had managed to hitch a ride not too far from the edge of it to start his mission. He was dressed lightly...the sound of a canyon seemed hot to him, thus only a casual and loose fitting, yet proper shirt dressed his torso and thin slacks around his lower body. He decided to leave his jacket and hat with the rest of his belongings, in his room in the Order. His cane hung at his side by a loose strap, the top of it empty of any jewel. For a moment, his figure stopped to reach up to his neck and button up a button.

"Argh...it's a little colder than I anticipated..."

He thought to himself, squinting as he surveyed the area. He wasn't aware that the canyon was filled with water... Pulling a piece of paper out of his breast pocket, Huxley examined what the flower looked like once again. It looked rather small, plain and more like it came from a vine than an individual flower. He examined it a little bit more...it's a flower, so perhaps it'd be closest to the water source? Seeing that the water source was easy to find, he began to walk along the side of it, keeping an open eye and adjusting his monocle to look at things from afar.

♣As Huxley would make his way following the water in the canal, he would be led along a winding path, one which many nomads and traveling merchants took before him. The path was not marked, but it was obvious many traveled here due to the worn spots along the ground. Along the road and further out in the distance, the ground was sparsely covered with various shrubs, cacti, and various desert flowers. None of them, if looked closely, would really resemble the picture that Huxley had. Further out in the distance was a large outcropping of rocks that lay close to the canal. Near the outcropping, if Huxley could see from his distance, or perhaps when he got closer, was a group of three people, seemingly loitering about.♣

After folding the map up once again and tucking it into his breast pocket, Huxley walked along the canal, looking at the wildlife and running over to look at any flora. None seemed to fit the picture he held through, so he continued to travel following the canal. Several people had passed him, some even nice enough to ask if he needed a ride. He refused, of course, but he asked around to see if anyone recognized the flower. Apparently none had, as none really walked through the Canyon themselves, just rode through it. So no luck. Finally after some time and it looked like the sun was falling a bit further from its peak, Huxley managed to make out the outcropping of rocks near the canal. Perhaps there he would find what he was looking for (and perhaps even take a small rest). Coming closer he could see people there, there made him both happy and cautious...trouble? Or allies? He came closer though, not sneaking or making himself look as if he had an ulterior motive. The cane lay empty still, so there was nothing to be worried about (right?). However, in his hand he was conjuring a gem of ruby, just in case something went wrong.

♣As Huxley got closer to the group of three, he could see that they were wearing nomad travel clothing, tan in color, which covered even most of their faces. They looked anxious, and were conversing to each other in a strange dialect that Huxley would probably not recognize. One of them every now and then would peek around the outcropping and then shrink back, as though cowering from whatever lay beyond. If Huxley continued onward, they would see him and start shouting out to him, waving their arms about to get his attention, but not moving from out behind the outcropping.♣

"Wait, no!! Don't go any further, its too dangerous, please!!"

♣Came their cries. They continued to beckon Huxley over, obviously very concerned about his safety.♣

Continuing the walk in their direction, Huxley did not stop till they began to shout at him. Strange...what was going on? Perhaps some trouble? Huxley wasn't sure if he should step in, but he peered over to the outcropping with hopes of getting a glimpse of their mysterious activity.

"Excuse me. Are you okay?"

He shouted politely as he could. His cane still stayed by his side, the ruby fully formed by now. Truth be told, he wasn't too sure if he should get so side tracked, but his curiosity got the better of him.

♣As Huxley shouted back at them, they continued to shout back and beckon him hurriedly towards themselves, apparently still in distress.♣

"Get over here before your seen!! Your in danger there!! Please, come here!!"

♣They cried, while the one continued to peek over the outcropping, still terrified at what he saw...or maybe what he didn't see, had seen before, or simply knew was out there...it was hard to tell from Huxley's distance and without any word from the men themselves, who were still cowering in fear behind the rocks.♣

For a moment he only stared, blinking at their urgency, then shrugged his shoulders to himself. At this point he didn't have much to lose, so he bended his knees in a crouching position and made his way there as stealthily as he could. When he managed to get there, he examined the nomads before asking...

"Um...so..............may I ask what exactly we are doing?"

♣Once Huxley had drawn nearer to them, one of the group members would began to speak in a hushed, frantic voice, his eyes moving this way and that, clearly anxious about something.♣

"We were attacked just on the other side of this outcropping. We stopped to pick some desert flowers when something starting moving through the ground. It caused the whole ground to shake, and we were nearly swallowed up!! Now our camels and packs are trapped on the other side of this outcropping...and we don't know how to get them back! Please, if you value your life, you won't go past, it will probably attack you as well!"

♣The nomad explained. The other two, while their traveling companion explained, continued to peek over the outcropping, then cower behind it, both still visibly shaken. None of the nomads had weapons, nor did they have very many supplies on their person. It would be doubtful they could make it on their own without their supplies, and camels, for very long.♣

The warning was sound advice. It was just too bad that they had to mention the one thing that Huxley was looking for. Huxley rubbed the back of his neck and sighed...yes. Of course there was a monster guarding the flowers, how very convenient! Did he always have to go look for trouble one way or another? But honestly, this wasn't something he wanted to ignore either...with the small amount of information he knew nomads from his short time travelling, they would have difficulties with travel if they did not have their supplies. It was usually gathered from trading, bargaining and selling and some of that stuff could be from years of collection. In a low voice, he asked...

"You may be in luck...Do you recognize this? Do you know if this grows on the other side of these rocks?"

Pulling up the flower drawing once again, Huxley pushed it under one of the nomad's noses, whispering.

♣The nomad who had spoken of their plight to Huxley looked over the picture that was presented, staring at it for several moments in study. Then slowly, he nodded.♣

Y-yes...I believe it is the same flower...why do you have a picture of it though...?

♣It seemed, for a moment, that Huxley had sparked the nomad's interest, allowing him to momentarily lapse in memory of his current dilemma. He waited, watching Huxley and his picture, waiting for an answer, clearly very curious.♣

The answer he wished NOT to hear was the one he ended up hearing. Huxley gave a nervous laugh, nearly a groan and said,

"Haha, well you see..."

The man paused, scratching the back of his head before sighing and deciding to spare the nomad the details.

"A client is looking for a few. I'm a....treasure hunter...?"

He didn't sound so sure. He searched for a term other than 'adventurer' that would perhaps describe him. Adventurer seemed like a word used for those who searched for trouble and was hoping to reap the benefits of it. At times it meant that adventurers would be more so a troublemaker...however, treasurer hunter made it appear that he was on a request that had a very obvious goal and, yes, it wasn't exactly was he was doing, but he supposed it was close enough.

"Oh I see..."

♣The nomad replied softly, slowly staring to lose interest.♣

"So, it has value then...?"

♣The nomad asked in return, his eyes starting to wonder towards his other two partners, who continued to peek and cower over the outcropping. A few moments after the nomad asked his question, a loud "THUD" shook the outcropping, sending a few pebble sized chucks of rock rolling down its surface to eventually hit the two nomads in the head. They both let out a yell and dove backwards onto the sand, clearly frightened. The nomad speaking directly to Huxley turned as his eyes widened, also clearly fearful of what was on the other side. One of the other nomads scrambled to his feet, crying out.♣

"Is it coming after us?!?"

When the loud thud rang out, Huxley bent down upon one knee and kept his head low along with the others. HIs eyes scanned the area carefully, monocle up to show him any signs of magical effect that may have disturbed the area. Who knows, afterall, this monster may purely be constructed by magic all together and it was a simple act of defeating the magician that would stop all this ridiculous hiding and fear that plagued the nomads. Still, before then, listening and watching was the better idea. Huxley brushed some strands of dark brown hair out of his eyes, pushed himself even closer to the rock, making his form smaller while concentrating and clutched his cane. HIs bare digits fiddled idly, nervously upon the ruby he created earlier.
