Bounty Hunting: Huy-lak the Rogue Slyph Part 2

Image

From a bird's eye view, this black landscape reveals small tendrils in its ground extending like small rivers. These veins are pits of flowing hot magma, melting down the earth it flows on and pushing it somewhere else entirely. The ground itself seems alive, with the heat and occasional tremors. A lone castle constructed out of bones of dead animals and people can be found here. Inside it's walls are horrors that are said to be just as bad as Excelsior.

Bounty Hunting: Huy-lak the Rogue Slyph Part 2

Thu Oct 13, 2016 7:22 pm

*After leaving the Halcyon Shield, I traveled to the next closest place my bounty had been rumored to be seen. This took me into the lands of Coliginosity, which were completely different from Halcyon. I eventually found myself in Gaia's Gorge, which from the name alone, I was expecting to be more like the elven territory of Halcyon. I found I was quite wrong. I began picking my way across the rough terrain in search of my quarry, keeping my Raikoglyff aided eyes peeled and my hands at the ready for my weapons.*

Far off in the distance, beyond a hill in the horizon, rose a massive mountain, it wasn't the largest in Kwandrivia, or even the Coliginosity, but it;s height was in the top 10. From the mountain spewed what could best be described as an eternal ash of heat and magma. From where Kuwa was, he would feel the ground below him shake as a tremor erupted from the volcano far off. As that happened, the magma beside him seemed to shoot upwards sending flaming chunks of stone every which way, it was definitely NOT a place any aerial specialist would want to be found, but non the less Kuwa could keep trying his luck, or simply move onward from the area.

Up ahead on the path he was travelling on, Kuwa would see a single armoured knight, wearing some sort of bio-suit that was not exactly Laurentian, but no exactly Magical either, it was like it was a combination of both, and was very common of Coliginosity technology.

*As soon as the knight came into view, which would probably be sooner than when I came into his view due to my enhanced eyesight, I would slow, unsure if I should continued to approach the person ahead of me, though also wondering if it was my bounty in disguise. Since I couldn't identify them at this point, I decided to try my luck and press on. I continued to walk towards the knight, keeping a close eye on them. My hands hovered over my weapons in case they were of need, but I did not draw them yet. Once I was within an ear shot or so, I would call out to the knight, attempting to get a response so that I could better identify the person before me.*

Hey, you there. Are you patrolling this area?

The Knight quickly turned to Kuwa and began speaking in a rather stern tone.

"Have you SEEN any precious gems around here!" The Knight would say.

After he spoke, he began frantically searching for any gemstones he could find, luck however was not on his side.

*I slowed to a stop at the knight's response, confused and guarded, suspicious of his intentions. I looked the knight up and down, gauging him and deciding how to respond...or if to at all.*

.....No.....

*Replied curtly and slowly. I wasn't sure if I should say anything else, so I waited, standing still, still eyeing the knight, my hands hovering near my sword, my enhanced eyes trained to detect any movement that would mean attack. I still also kept some eye out around for any other people or movement in the area, still searching for the elf in my bounty.*

The knight would continue looking around for gemstones and minerals in the area. As he did, he would slowly and heavily breathe while muttering words in a forgeign language that was a combination of Eleven and Germanic Dwarven. that wouldnt even make sense to someone like that if they existed in the first place.

As the night moved about, he kept his back always facing away from Kuwa, as if hiding something on it. If Kuwa's eyes could pick up on it, they would see a small magical talisman attached to the knights back, one with High Elven scripts, if Kuwa could read the scripts they would read that this was an "Assume Control" talisman. It was small and not easily visible by someone who didn't have any abilities to sense magic or someone who hasn't seen a talisman before.

For now the Knight would continue moving about, searching for gemstone that probably weren't here to begin with. His body moved about frantically, but his mind was zombified.

*Thanks to the Raikogylff's x-ray like vision, I was able to see the talisman, however, I was in no way able to determine what it said or even what it was for. It did seem to have some sort of energy signature, but still wasn't much to go on. It was suspicious enough, especially with the knight moving around erratically, keeping his back away from me all the time, which was pretty evident, since he was looking around for something and one would usually turn about to do so. These two things made me suspicious enough to investigate more. I walked carefully towards the knight closing the distance between us slowly and cautiously at first. Once I was about 2 feet in front of him, since he wouldn't keep his back to me, I would take action, moving suddenly in a blur of motion, using the Raikoglyff's nerve creation/manipulation to amplify my own speed and strength. In becoming a blur of motion, I also somersaulted over the knight's head, and down towards his back. While doing so, I reached out with my hand and aimed a slap of my palm against the armor on his back. The attack, if you could call it that, wasn't intended to cause harm. Rather, upon hitting his back, if I did, I would release a built up charge of electrical energy, aiming to conduct through the metal of the armor and hit the talisman on the man's back. I was aiming to disrupt the talisman, if not damage it enough to make a difference, if there was one at all to be made. Once landing on the ground, I took guard, in case the knight attacked, or someone else did, since this might be a trap.*

As Kuwa approached with his speed, the Knight's slower speed did not allow him to react fast enough to Kuwa's movements. Because of this the knight found itself slammed in the back with some sort of attack that would aim to damage to the very weak point it had. Ina fit of rage the knights entire body would begin humming. As this occurred a growing energy could be felt from within the knight.

"Gems!, you're stopping me from GEMS!" the Knight would say as it sped up it's search for gems.

With his Raikogylff, Kuwa could definitely see the talisman had been damaged. But he would also see that the moment the knight began to hum and the energy was felt that something inside the Knight was glowing with the same energy. The energy was coming from within the knight, from his chest region. From the place his heart was. Despite the talisman being damaged the knight did not show signs of pain, or discomfort, it simply as before, sped up it;s search and the feeling of a building energy continued.

*At the reaction of the Knight, I stepped back a few times, not sure what to make of the sudden increase and flow of energy. Perhaps this Talisman that I detected was blocking the Knight's energy source....or it was protecting people like me from being attacked. There was only one way to find out. I took a breath, collecting myself, and focusing my energy. With it I stretched out, using my Physics ability to manipulate friction, bending it so that there was less on me and more on the Knight, lightening my movements and causing his movements to be more difficult. A moment later, I became a blur again, moving towards the Knight's back once more and aiming an open palm which was sparking and crackling with live current, a blue flash of light as I aimed my attack with precision, aiming to completely disable or destroy the talisman this time.*

As Kuwa closed in and came for a strike, the Knight would suddenly being rotating it's body in an attempt to dodge. It was too late though, Kuwa's strike had already his it's mark. Just as planned the Talisman was destroyed, and upon doing so, a violent steam-like hiss would be heard. Slowly, the hiss would begin to stop and as it stopped the sound of metal scraping metal could be heard. It was at this moment that the metal armour of the Knight began to fall apart and with it, a body would flop to the ground with dozens of wires connecting to various parts of the Knight's armour.

If Kuwa had seen the picture of the Huy-lak, he would instantly recognize him. The question was, why was he locked inside a machine, sealed by a talisman and being forced to collect gems.

*At the first sign of Huy-lak's body appearing, I lunged forward, one hand clutching my Shinkira sword, the other aiming to grasp Huy-lak around the throat, though not necessary to choke him. I was aiming, rather, to hold Huy-luk in place and if he should he make any sudden movements to attack, the tip of my sword, which was gently resting on his chest, would unleash a blast of electricity, aiming to paralyze him further. I waited to check if he was awake and if he wasn't, I would prepare to use my electrokinetic/nerve manipulation in attempt to wake him. I also kept an eye on my surroundings, wondering if he was being controlled by someone...someone who might now reveal themselves.*

The moment Kuwa put his hand on Huy-lak's throat is when Huy-lak would begin reacting. As anyone would with a hand on their neck, Huy-lak would quickly reach for Kuwa's arm only to find that when he did so, he would be jolted with a strong paralyzing blast of electricity. After a few seconds of being paralyzed, Huy-lak was then forcefully freed from it and would begin screaming.

"THE DARKNESS, LET ME GO!" he would yell out.

"THEY'RE COMING, THE DARKNESS!" he would yell again.

If Kuwa was using his Raikoglyff, he would feel the fading presence of something dark fading from where the talisman once was.

*Upon feeling the Huy-lak be suddenly freed from the paralysis and the strange dark energy/presence that was leaving the talisman, I instinctively thrust my hand out that was holding the Huy-lak by the neck, throwing him backward away from me and whatever that presence or energy was. After releasing my bounty, as painful as that was, I shot back a few feet also, keeping a defensive position and guarding myself with a pulse of electrical energy, which rippled out from me, nearly invisible, but quite enough to repel most energy based...things...that might come at me, as well as at least hinder physical things as well. I kept alert, attempting to figure out exactly what was going on. I was ready to rebound on my bounty like a cat springing on its prey if he attempted to flee or attack me.*

As the talisman faded, a mist would begin rolling into the area. This mist however was not water vapor and more resembled the night sky just flowing in. As the night sky mist flowed in it would cover the area in the same amount of light that a night sky would emit. After this a shadowed figure would walk out from what appeared to be a constellation. Upon doing this, a lance would be shot from another star which she would catch and hold with both her arms.

If Kuwa could sense someones biological make up, he would instantly recognize her a Magi, but not a Shrew, and not an Aneptii.

"Where is this?" She would yell out, her voice echoing in the now dimly lit area.

*I stood still as I sensed the environmental change around me, keeping my defenses up and ready, as well as my readiness to attack. I watched as the woman appeared, my enhanced eyesight indeed scanning her to be something not quite Shrew, though definitely related. When she spoke, my eyes flashed between her and the Huy-lak, still making sure my quarry did not flee, before answering.*

This is the Coliginosity's territory on the planet of Kwandrivia. And who the hell are you?
