Ambush at the Lake: Minister Gerard's Escort to Death City

Image

South of Death City is a large partially lake that. Like the park the lake was developed as part of the Laurentia Empire's plans to make the city more nature loving. But like the park and the city it failed and was partially drained away. tons of desolate and abandoned homes lined what used to be a beach

♫As I felt the other telekinetic/psionic force block out my own, and explode the house, I instinctively withdrew my telekinetic power and focused downwards into the crevice in the ground I had created, which was still glowing green. From it spread out my power, causing the ground in front of me to transform into green Crystallinite. From this I manipulated, causing an arching wall to break out of the ground between us and the house, and cover us from the exploding shrapnel and blood that was sent out. The wall was large enough to cover, and hopefully thick enough as well, though it was still pulsing with my telekinetic power, which would hopefully act as enough of a buffer.

Because my Crystallinite were among the shrapnel shot out, after forming the wall, I reached out to these pieces, retaking control and forcing them to fly upwards towards the now reforming Slain, attempting to pierce and enter into Slain's body...and if they made it that far, I would attempt to cause them to bind Slain's body from the inside out, hopefully enough to restrain him or at least inhibit...however, I only had so much power comparatively, so I assumed, like before I would be easily outmatched. Either way, I was going to try, at least to keep him busy. Kezia's mental message hit me, but I had no ideas on the matter, really. I was focusing on attacking Slain and keeping him busy...I figured the more brainiac people like Tatsui and my sister could handle such things. Keeping my wits about me and my mental defenses up, I continued to engage Slain, hoping to find an opening...or at least create one for one of the other's to jump in and take care of him.♫

"Okay, I...wait, what?! Is that thing actually trying to eat that ice?!"

The red haired woman said, pointing at creature in the ice accusingly. One look into that ice Tatsui could see the figure was draining the elements around it; the magnetic pull was so obvious it was painful.

"Guh-- Nuh uh, that ain't happenin'!"

She pulled back both arms, hovering a good distance one right above the other horizontally as if holding something between them. She moved her arms so her hands nearly overlapped each other.

"Disintegrate, black dog of Rondanini..."

Quickly she oriented them so they were parallel, one over the other again except opposite hands, shifting them as if molding and shaping something round. The moment she did so, an orange striped ball of energy spun between her hands as if on a pottery wheel.

"Look upon yourself in horror and tear out your own throat!"

The striped orange ball became small and sunk to the tips of Tatsui's index and ring fingers, which she held out, along with her thumb, close to her chest.

"Bakudō kyū! Hōrin!"

Her left hand fell out of its position, gave a gesture in the form of a horizontal wave towards the icy lake. Her Astronomy study was called and a chunk of ice blew backwards, frozen into a tall wall to hold back the lake's crashing water. It unveiled the creature down below as if it were naked, letting it only sit upon a small patch of ice. The moment it was unveiled, Tatsui pointed her right fingers at it, a tendil of the same orange striped color came like lightning to grab and snare together its arms and legs.

Revan, the mind controlled Familiar of Slain's was quick to react to the coming butterflies. In an instant, her own mental force would be manifested and sent outwards, in all directions, in a single sweeping expanding bubble. A massive force push of sorts. She felt the barriers on each persons mind blocking her ability to see them clearly and knew that attacking mentally was going to be difficult. Slain could handle his own, she knew that. The force push she sent out earlier would slam into those butterflies, aiming to drive them backwards. At the same time, the spores and poison would begin to seep into anyone who dared to be in the area and breath them.

Slain himself, was reforming in the sky. However, he would not take his humanoid shape. His form would instead be that of a sword a large claymore. He had transmuted his own being into a weapon and was using his mental abilities to move himself. The sword, like a fighter plane would blast diagonally towards the ground, but not before teleporting through the Crystalline barrier [Blood Strike]. Instantly, his sword form would be gone, and just like it left it appeared behind the Minister, striking upwards with 50% of Slain's strength and power, with raw speed too that made dodging this attack extremely difficult. Immediately after as not to be caught within range of Kezia, Slain would lock onto Rasetta and pull both himself and her into a dimensional pocket, leaving only Revan behind.

By now, Revan's poison would be inside the Minister, if he hadn't already been cleaved in two by the [Blood Strike]

ΩSeeing the mental attack on the familiar was futile, I caused the mental butterflies to explode violently upon impact with the familiar’s mental force push, hopefully powerful enough to cancel the wave out entirely, or at least enough to slow it down/diminish it enough to keep it from reaching us, despite our already protected minds. I turned my attention to the spore attacks instead, which I sensed were just as dangerous to the rest of us as it was to the minister. Using Reality bending, I formed a dozen or so butterflies out of the air, which even as they were formed, began to spin around, turning into mini-tornadoes which began sucking the spores out of the air from around us, which should have been enough to keep the spores from infecting us. As for the minister, I knew he was in far too much danger where he was. In the next instant from creating the butterfly-funnels, I slammed a fist into the ground, summoning my power over the earth through Gaianology, forcing the earth under the Minister to transform into quicksand like material, which would naturally suck him down under, hopefully further ridding the possibility of him being infected, while also removing him from being targeted by Slain’s attacks via sword and/or teleportation. While doing, this I caused the Minister to scream out, influencing him mentally, so that it seemed that he had been hit, and while pulling him into the ground, I created a mental block around his mind, hopefully powerful enough to look as though the minister's mind was gone, feigning his death. If the enemy attempting to reach out to the minister's mind, they should only feel my own, covering a large amount of area around me, including underground.Ω

"Hezekiah, shield the Minister, we need to keep him away from the enemy’s attacks.”

ΩI telepathically commanded my brother, causing Minister to be pulled down through the earth somewhere below us, near by Hezekiah and his Crystallinite. Meanwhile, I pulled the nearest butterfly-funnel towards me, reaching out with a single strand of Elementum which was connected from an outstretched finger, the Elementum connecting to the spores within the funnel, feeding off of them. I had a plan, though it might take a bit of time, hopefully not more than I had. I kept alert, in case our enemy and his familiar switched targets...and hoped that Tatsui would join in against the main threat, for I feared that Heze and I wouldn’t be able to hold him off much longer.Ω

♫Despite being busy with attempting to slow Slain down, I found the time, somehow, to quickly encase the Minister in a thick casing of green Crystallinite, which I rested beneath myself, making sure to keep an eye on it, in case I needed to move it. Meanwhile, since Slain didn't seem to notice the shards of green Crystallinite, they would indeed penetrate and infiltrate his body as he formed into his sword-form. Once fully formed, I caused the Crystallinite to grow inside him, forming chains and bridges to one-another, attempting to restrain the manic before he moved too much further. In response to my command and control, the Crystallinite glowed bright green, unleashing green telekinetic energy from it, which would further be used to attempt to restrain Slain, attempting to keep him from moving, or at least slowing him down. Should Slain attempt to reform/pull his physical essence away from the bindings/Crystallinite/Telekinetic energy, I would attempt to have it “liquefy” or “mineralize” in a sense, so that it would stick with him, and reform when he did. If I was extremely lucky enough to subdue Slain entirely, I would have the green telekinetic energy form a shell around him that would freeze him in mid-air, attempting to keep him from moving. However, this all took concentration, and if he entered another dimensional space not connected to this one, I would probably lose control.♫

As Tatsui was holding onto the orange tendil that was wrapped around Rasetta, since it seemed that the ice-eating creature did not struggle, she watched as Slain came to sweep her up into a different dimensional. She gave a grin, smiling ear to ear as she looked at the situation. What luck! Two targets in one! Tatsui let the rubbery, sticky, hard-to-pull off tendril go, the rest of it whipping around Rasetta, right as Slain had come to her to pull them into the dimensional pocket. Tatsui closed her fist and a spark of orange light ignited in her palms. The tendril that was still around Rasetta was connected to her Ki and therefore exploded as Slain reached her. She hoped to explode the two of them, since Slain had essentially placed himself in her trap. In the smoke, an image of Tatsui brandishing Kaza rushed up to the two who, hopefully, had failed to be pulled into the dimensional pocket. She would come at them with a horizontal slash, arcing in the thick smoke.

Having ignored the Crystalline to force a Dimensional Pocket to be formed, Slain found himself severally impaired. He was now forced to exert even more force to move himself into the Dimensional Pocket. Three against one, even with Revan, and Rasetta wasn't going nearly as he hoped. Having been connected to Rasetta via the Dimensional Pocket, even for a second, Slain found himself subjected to the full force of Tatsui's explosive assault agaisnt Rasetta. (I was envisioning his pocket to be something like a spinning tunnel of energy connecting Rasetta and Slain, wormhole-like

) . Soon the dimensional pocket would fail and Slain would find himself completely taken by the Crystalline. Thanks to the blow from Tatsui, Slain's mind was completely focused on saving his Demon and this allowed the Crystalline to completely take control. Slain was out for the count. Revan had no choice but to reform by his side. Slain who had taken the form of a sword was now lying on the ground. Revan would do her best to protect him, if they wanted to try and do any further harm.

ΩI watched with increasing anticipation and excitement as Hezekiah and Tatsui took their turns finishing Slain off. I stepped forwards towards Revan after Slain reappeared on the ground, no doubt bound and out of commission. In a sudden purple flash a curtain of mental butterflies appeared between the three of us and Revan. I held out my arm to the side, blocking Heze in case he would attempt to go for the kill.Ω

"We've defeated your master, please surrender....Surrender and leave this place, and we will not harm you anymore."

ΩI spoke evenly and loudly, directly towards the Familiar. From the beginning of the battle to the end, I had been trying to figure out the relationship of our opponents, and the nature of their abilities. They seemed so familiar...and now I knew why. He was an Anneptis, from the same area that we called home. Our people had a treaty...a truce that kept each from destroying the other. It was something I had forged with my own hand, and wasn't about to let it be broken so easily. Thus I hoped that giving the Anneptis' familiar the chance to escape with their lives would be enough to end their assassination attempt...and keep the Shrewish treaty intact. I waited patiently for an answer, my eyes watching the Familiar, and the Anneptis behind her, very closely.Ω

♫Excitement took me as Slain reappeared. I made to move forwards, raising a rosary wrapped hand, intending to reach out and crush Slain, to remove him as a threat. Then Kezia appeared in front of me a second later, arm raised out in caution. I stopped short, letting my hand drop a bit, as I listened to what she said, my eyes moving between my sister and our enemies. Confused, I took a step back, still watching Revan, waiting for her to attack...and still wondering why in the world Kezia had stopped us. I hoped her reason was good enough...and that if our enemies did indeed leave, that they didn't decide to attack again...I wasn't sure we could survive another surprise attack. I waited, fidgeting with my Rosary, which was glowing bright green, ready to be used again if need be.♫

Her attention was returned to the group of attackers who no longer seemed to be in condition to be hostile. Green eyes scanned them carefully, just as Tatsui's arm turned back to normal from her Kido. Her held out her other hand and a two plant shoots grew from the soil next to Slain, growing into strong vines with solid metal middles. They wrapped around his arms, which were perhaps burned from the explosion that she had detonated upon him and his familiar, and they moved his arms behind his back, twisting them enough so if he moved it would certainly hurt or pop the joint out of the socket. Tatsui opened her mind up a little (not knowing how telekinesis worked since she didn't exactly have it) and mentally spoke to Kezia,

"Juuuust in case."

Shou on the other hand flew back to her, flapping his blue wings to hover near her before she sprouted a long, antler like branch from her shoulder for him to land on. His little feet grasped the tip of the branch and he shimmied over to his master so he was closest to her shoulder. He gave a chirp of acknowledgment to her and she turned to him to smile.

After sometime of being subdued, Slain in his sword form would wear off reverting him back to a more humanoid form, where he was restrained. He looked up at the 3 as best he could burning their faces into his memory.

"You've already won this, we won't leave until you do so first" Revan would say in a threatening voice.

She stood where she was, looking at the 3, and occasionally back at Slain whom was restrained under vines and plants she didn't seem to be able to get a grasp onto.

ΩI kept my hand where it was to prevent Hezekiah from moving forwards, then lowered it after Revan had spoken, my eyes moving between Slain and his familiar slowly as I thought. Seeing the plant/metal restraints that Tatsui conjured where in place, I finally nodded slowly, speaking calmly again, though still loudly enough for everyone to hear.Ω

"Very well...one wrong move, however, and we won't hesitate..."

ΩI replied, letting my words drift off to simply inspire the imagination of what we wouldn't hesitate to do. Without turning, I quickly spoke mentally to Hezekiah, though allowed Tatsui to hear.Ω

"Heze, keep the Minister underground and underwater until he's in the boat...I still don't trust our adversaries to honor their words...

ΩI then turned, making sure to keep my mental butterfly filled barrier up between Slain and us, at least until we set back off the Island. I headed back to the boat, the weight of exhaustion starting to take its toll. I wasn't sure I could last through another fight if there came to be one...and I was honestly glad the one with Slain didn't last much longer than it did, otherwise I might have fell there as well. I kept a mental eye on Slain even after we entered the boat, making sure no movement came. I also made sure to maintain my mental presence over the minister's mind, so that his presence would not be discovered, if it wasn't already.Ω

"Okay-doky...."

♫I replied mentally, still wanting to pounce on Slain and his familiar, but deciding to resist the urge and follow my sister's direction. As we made our way back to the boat, I secretly moved the Crystallinite casing around the Minister through the ground and into the lake. From there, once it was placed under the boat, I assimilated it through the bottom of the boat, and cause it to come to rest inside the boat, just as we were getting on. From there, once everyone was aboard, I began to manipulate the boat again, causing it to launch back off into the lake, as we began sailing towards Death City once again...hopefully this time with better luck with the weather conditions. Once we had gotten out of sight of the Island, my Crystallinite inside of Slain would return to its original form of earth and dirt, freeing him from at least one of his bondages. Once we were such a place, I would release my control over the boat for a while, before giving once last shove, giving myself a rest, since I was starting to get lower on energy, though still allowing us to be propelled forwards, just in large bursts, rather than continuous movement.♫

As she hopped upon the boat once again, Tatsui gave the trio a last glance...they kinda gave her the creeps. When the boat had started to move by Hezekiah's hand once again, Tatsui took her spot over at the bow of the ship, where she originally was before they had left to go to the weird (trap) house. Slowly the untied her zanpakutou, laying it down in front of her. Her right hand braced herself on the ship floor so she could sit in front of it, Shou flipping his wings rapidly at the sudden vertical descent. She sat crosslegged with eyes closed, her hands limply on her knees as she breathed deeply in and out.

"Kaza? Are you still feeling sick?"

She asked to her weapon in front of her.

"A little bit, but not really that much anymore..."

She could hear him grumbling from within her zanpakuto. He seemed embarrassed, so Tatsui decided to drop the subject. Mentally she gave a sigh, pausing for a moment and concentrating. From within her core, Navitas welled up and enveloped the ship in a thin bubble. From her, ripples of white would pulse occasionally. Inside the bubble, it was clear and we could all see outside of it, however outside of the bubble there was nothing-- like literally, no boat was there. Tatsui had wrapped the boat in an illusion, the only thing that indicated that something was amiss was the streamlined ripples that the boat gave in the waters. Because of her heavily meditative state, Tatsui was capable of conjuring the illusion by spending very little to near no Navitas.

After the 3 others left, Revan would walk ahead of her position a few meters before causing all the flora on the island to glow. Energy, healing energy would begin transferring from the nearby plantlife and into slain, in turning killing the newly spawned plant life Revan had been growing now and during the fight. After this, she would tend to Slain before pulling him, in his sword form into the water. From there, she would turn into an octopus-like mess of vines and begin swimming towards the shore of the lake, leaving the failed fight, and the island behind.
