Ambush at the Lake: Minister Gerard's Escort to Death City

Image

South of Death City is a large partially lake that. Like the park the lake was developed as part of the Laurentia Empire's plans to make the city more nature loving. But like the park and the city it failed and was partially drained away. tons of desolate and abandoned homes lined what used to be a beach

The boat, and the group were coming closer to the lighthouse, as they neared it, they would make out the tall white structure with a crystal atop it beaming out a blue light. On the shore was an old man, sitting inside a Magi-Tek wheel chair with an umbrella, he with as much as he could, was calling out to the group to head over of they needed shelter through the storm.

((I don't have a problem with using Photogess for purification, since that's one of its primary functions...))

ΩAs the Photogess barrier was created by Tatsui appeared, my butterflies would quickly flutter to various sides of the boat, quickly melding into Tatsui's barrier and adding their psychic nature to the barrier, hopefully helping to interact with the psychic attack better and block it out from all of us. More mental butterflies would flutter out from me and the boat as well, some moving over and around the minister, while one in particular landed on his forehead, creating another, purely mental, shield over his mind, attempting to further block out the mental attack. The same happened with Tatsui and Hezekiah, in case they were in danger as well.

A second later, using psychic contact, I would alert Heze to the lighthouse and the man there calling out to us...Hopefully Hezekiah would be able to drive to boat over there, despite the ferocity of the storm.Ω

♫Thankz to Tatsui's and Kezia's defenses, I would be saved from the mental ping, and wouldn't lose concentration as I focused on controlling the boat. Upon receiving Kezia's mental message and seeing the lighthouse, I quickly changed the direction of the boat, moving it as best I could towards the shore. Thankfully, being I had an affinity for crystals, I was able to home in on not only the light but also the power emanating from the crystal itself, allowing me focus a clear path through the storm for us, hopefully allowing us to get to shore safely. I continued to maintain the telekinetic aura around and through the boat, so that more waves wouldn't hit so hard and so that we could continue moving despite the rough conditions of the waters we were upon.♫

"Almost...there...."

♫I shouted with difficulty, putting 100% attention on getting the boat to shore safely.♫

Tatsui maintained her Photogess barrier around the boat, but hurried to the closest thing to the bow of the boat. She climbed atop it, standing and looking out to the shore. Her red hair whipped through the wind like the boat's banner. Turning to the 'captain', she called out words of encouragement.

"Keep at it Hezekiah! You're doing great!!"

Those words seemed familiar; they reminded her of a long time ago when she had twins living inside of her and when a certain doctor helped to deliver them. Funny how the two here now, though not her children, are twins, just like the ones she had.

"But something is wrong, bian. Something is attacking us."

Kaza's voice cut through her soft, pleasant daydream and she was rather surprised at how quickly he recovered. But yes...someone was attacking them, but didn't dare show its, or their, face. Just as she thought that, Shou came flying down like a bullet to the floor of the boat, landing quickly in the Photogess barrier. He gave a chirp and stretched out a wing. He found the old man in the wheelchair that Kezia had mentally felt and heard just from high up. He flew up and landed on Tatsui's shoulder, chirping again and looking in the direction of the man...which happened to be the same direction they were already going. They were nearly at the shore anyway, so perhaps Shou could bring them to safety if Kezia didn't say anything about it later.

Finally, land was within grasp of the Boat, or a dock to be more precise. It wouldn't take them long at all before they could anchor down. (Next Post the boat can). As they neared the shoreline, the lighthouse would become clearer to them, and instead of just a light house it seemed to be a house with a lighthouse atop it. The man on the end of the dock, called out through the storm to them before quickly running back to the house that was there. Something about the house felt warm and inviting.

♫Renewed by my sister's presence and friend Tatsui's encouragement, I managed to land the boat with a thud to shore, next to the dock. The moment that it touched, the green Crystallinite morphed, latching itself onto the dock and the bottom of the lake floor securely. A slab was cut out of the wall, which fell downwards, creating a small ramp from the boat to the dock. Once I secured the boat, I quickly turned to Kezia's side, one of my hands finding her shoulder, as I stood silently, ready to leave the boat when she did. I felt she was quite rattled by the attack and tried to make myself available to support her if she needed it. My other hand briefly touched one of the sides, pulling a baseball sized chunk of it, which I quickly placed in my pocket, for later use. Once we did leave the boat, my green telekinetic aura that had been feeding into it would dissipate and vanish altogether. I wouldn't have as much control over it once I left, but it should remain protected if I needed it later.♫

ΩMy shoulders went a little limp once the boat made port. I was a little winded from everything that had taken place so rapidly, though I was recovering more quickly, thanks to Heze. The butterflies flying around the boat returned to me and landed across my other shoulder and head, covering me in a odd pink blanket of pink-purple butterflies.Ω

"Thank you..."

ΩI whispered to Heze, before guiding us off the boat slowly, my eyes looking around as a few of the butterflies darted outwards into the surrounding area, scouting. I didn't want to let my guard down, but the house ahead of us seemed so inviting and it was indeed so tempting to do so. I kept a butterfly on the Minister's head, to protect him still as well as keep an eye on him. From there we made our way to the house, hopefully with Tatsui in toe, as she seemed rather unphased by what had happened.Ω

With gentle footsteps, Tatsui touched ground as the boat hit the shore smoothly. The redhead turned to instantly she flee to...the minister. Reluctantly, she rushed to him. It was her job to take care of him first of course or this mission would definitely be a waste. The Photogess that flowed from her slowly began to dissipate, leaving a golden trail in the air as it did so. Clearing her throat, Tatsui spoke.

"Sir, it looks like we finally landed...can I ask if you're okay?"

She didn't seem to wait for a response for too long (at least mentally) because another voice perked up.

"That looks like a really stupid place to venture into, bian."

Curious as to what Kaza was talking about, Tatsui looked up...the house. So interesting, so sketchy. Her forest green eyes narrowed in suspicion. Argh...

"It looks like something straight from a horror movie..........."

"What's a movie, bian??

"Nothing, nevermind."

Immediately after getting off the boat the Minister whom they were protecting would stumble a bit before the contents of his stomach would be thrown up and into the lake. After a few moments he would find himself gripping his head as if something was causing him to feel extreme sickness...

"I HAVE TO get..." the Minister would drop to his knees before falling down backwards and almost into the waters...

From the depths of the water, a powerful mental force could be felt, one that was targeting the Minister, sending out drill like pulses of psionic force aiming to turn the poor Dark Elves mind to sludge. After the minister fell towards the ground, another powerful force could be felt coming from a room within the house, specifically from where the old man in the Magitek Wheelchair had gone.

"PATHETIC SHREWS!" a piercing mental voice would say blasting in all directions from the depths of the house, shattering all the windows that happened to not be open.

ΩThe moment the mental force touched the minister again, the butterfly on his forehead suddenly grew and glowed bright pink, unleashing a force-field of mental energy over his mind, attempting to block out whatever mental attack was aiming for him.Ω

"YOU again!"

ΩI shouted, suddenly turning and unsheathing my katana Perseverance, and quickly striking out at one of the butterflies around me. The instant the blade touched the butterfly, a large dome-barrier was created around the 4 of us, made of mental energy. This would be yet another mental barrier and defense against the assailant's mental attacks, although it wouldn't last forever. Once the barrier was up, the drain from my butterfly on the minister's head ended, thankfully. Meanwhile, the rest of the butterflies around me began to congregate on Perseverance, as slowly one by one they were consumed to maintain the barrier. My eyes screwed up in concentration, my mouth moving to call out warning to the others.Ω

"Hurry! I can't maintain this for too long..."

♫Upon seeing the sudden change in Kezia again, I let her go, allowing her to erect the barrier around us, while I also turned, the Rosery around my wrist suddenly glowing violently green. I lashed out, the Rosery suddenly extended and cracking like a whip, hitting the surface of the water nearby, the surface of which suddenly became solid, as I converted it to green Crystallinite. This spread out quite far, hopefully enough from any attacks that may come via water, while also protecting the minister from falling in, hopefully. I then turned towards the house, a blazing green physical telekinetic aura suddenly surrounding me.♫

"Let's get him..."

♫I thrust my hand downwards, punching the ground with all I could muster. Rock and dirt erupted around me, as a thick blade of telekinetic energy burst through the ground, leaving a jagged crack in its wake as it shot towards the house, straight through the open door. Upon entering the house, it would continue until reaching the very center, and there it would explode, sending out a pulse-wave of telekinetic force, following by large green Crystallinite spikes, which shot throughout the house, impaling through walls, ceiling and everything else in their path, hopefully catching the attacker as well, or at least roosting him from hiding.♫

"What the hell, bian!"

Just as her layer of Photogess protection dissipated, the attack began. Tatsui jumped to help the minister after seeing that he was being pulled into another attack. Hezekiah seemed to have the house in perfect control, thus she decided to tend to the minister. Her hand touched his head, a personal Photogess protection which should have nearly made all of the pain go away. Standing, Tatsui pulled on two threads of energy, feeling their different touch as she wielded one in one hand and another in the second.

"And she just say 'again'?"

The water in front of the minister froze from Ice in Astronomy, the surface solid while getting lower made it less icy. Meanwhile her left hand raised and bits of metal pulled out from the ground, forming and shaping itself into a large axehead with a sharp blade. With tremendous force, Tatsui drove the formed axehead into the ice, slicing violently. Tatsui crossed her arms as she watched the blade continue its job with a pleased expression.

"Perhaps that'll teach em a thing or two...maybe."

As the spikes flowed through the house, they would indeed destroy things, impale things, even Slain himself was struck causing blood to flow everywhere, covering everything in the room he was inside. The telekinetic force that was used was then countered by a force of equal similarities and power, except a lot more force was pumped into this. This would make the entire house, or what remained of it be blown apart into shrapnel. Slain in his humanoid form could be seen floating in place with blood covered Crystals around him as the explosion went off. but not before he would blink away using the shrapnel of blood, crystals, and house as cover.

"Shrewssssss......." An echoing voice would call out as blood began to rain about the area.

While this was going on, the ground all over the island would begin to grow and twist forming into vines and thick roots, from them, small white flowers would begin to grow, somehow ignoring the blasting house that would normally wipe them away. Each small white flower would begin releasing spores, invisible and scentless. IF they came in contact with anyone, they would quickly begin experiencing confusion, a dry mouth and lungs, diarrhea, dilated pupils leading to eventual and temporary paralysis of the eye muscles, migraine-like headaches, a quickening heart rate and visual and auditory hallucinations and quite possible death if not treated. A female voice could be heard from every flower chanting and singing a soft soothing melody.

From the ice that Tatsui froze, a small demonic looking creature could be seen, encase within it, it's mouth just glowing green, bright and brighter. The glow was Rasetta, Slain's demon releasing it's toxic matter devouring saliva, this would begin to feed of the ice, and soon the water around it.

After Slain had blinked, his image would begin reforming in the sky, above the small island, rebuilding itself from the blood that was around him.

ΩOnce Tatsui used her purging ability of Photogess on the Minister and Hezekiah attacked our opponent directly, I turned my blade, cutting straight up into the air through the barrier, causing it to suddenly be converted into more butterflies, deciding to recycle the energy that I used to make it back into something useful. Now that the barrier was down, more mental attacks could get to us...but Slain seemed rather busy to be launching such attacks at the moment, and besides, each one of us now, including the minister, had one of my mental butterflies to help shield them from attacks. I turned away for a moment, suddenly sensing a second mental presence beside the one that was Slain's. After concentrating and using my Conscious Perimeter, in addition to Telepathy, I quickly discovered the source: Slain's familiar, who was causing the sudden shift of plant-life on the island. Knowing the deadly attacks sent against us, I shifted my focus more towards the Familiar, quickly sending out more mental butterflies directly to her location, attempting to assault her mind directly, hoping to catch her off guard and eliminate another danger set against us. At the same time, I sent a mental warning to everyone in the group.Ω

"Our enemy has an accomplice, a weaker being whose launching some sort of plant-based attack right now...I can try and take her out, but we need to protect ourselves...And we need a plan of action for dealing with the psychic too..."

ΩI finished, still concentrating on attacking the Familiar, while then waiting for a reply from them. I felt cornered at this point, and was starting to lose my cool, just a little. But holding Perseverance in my hand gave me confidence at least, enough to keep going without freezing, despite the danger I felt.Ω
